The idea of handset / consumer electronics integration via 3G and a femtocell is definitely interesting, but not without challenges.

At the moment, there isn't a solution in most phones for UPnP-over-3G. There also isn't any intelligence in the OS or connection manager to tell apps when they are at home, on the femto. Yes it's possible to do notification via SMS or cell-ID, but there's no standard & it will be operator-specific implementation. There needs to be an easy femto-aware API in developers.

Bottom line - femtozone apps sound great. But they will need more thought on femto-optimised handsets.
