Agree with you Martin. Have often thought it would be nice to have automatic gain control on conference bridges.

I am not aware of system with all of this. There are net based bridges with wideband out there; do not know ones with auto-gain control as well.

Agree wideband sounds so much better like what I get with Skype to Skype...

Good idea Martin. And certainly would need to be complemented by multimedia features. I don't think the current Alcatel-Lucent "My Teamwork" solution (aka eDial) has everything you want already, but being fully SIP based and open, it could be a good starting point.

Martin,
I am not sure that HD Voice is the solution here.
Most of the problems I have in such calls are not related to the use of narrowband but rather due to poor "implementations" of the phone and the network or the worst one - the background noises.

Hi Martin,

You missed out on the issue that annoys me most: where one of the callers is on an Internet based leg, or the whole bridge is Internet based.

While the person is talking, *maybe* their voice is ledgible, but when they stop talking, or if they pause between words/sentances, you get the terrible noise-cancelling/or worse where the bridge provider drops the audio completely and you miss the end of words.
(An example of this is the popular WebEx service, who use, I think, PowWow?)

I hate these calls. I know exactly what you mean regarding the headache.

If you find a solution, let me know!
