And here's another reason why I like my VPN when using public Wi-Fi: In an interesting blog post over at Justinsomnia the author describes how he recently accessed his own web site via a hotel's Wi-Fi and realizing something was odd about the page. First believing some malware had infected his site, further investigation revealed that it was JavaScript code for ad-purposes being inserted in web pages by the hotel's Wi-Fi ISP. I leave you to draw your own consequences while I switch on my VPN again...

Then there are some hotels that block VPN establishment. Exceptionally frustrating. Have no idea why they would do that...

I agree with Ed. There's no logical reason for me as a guest, for them to block it out. It's not a good idea for me.
